Overview

Washington Seafood Market, located at 1765 Washington Rd in East Point, GA, presents itself as a neighborhood staple for those seeking comfort in seafood fare. This modest seafood restaurant offers a straightforward yet satisfying menu anchored by freshly prepared options like seafood boils, fried fish, and a variety of wing flavors. The experience here is defined by simplicity and approachability, catering primarily to local patrons who appreciate classic, home-style seafood without pretense.

The menu highlights reflect a balance of traditional Southern seafood staples—such as steamed jumbo shrimp, broken snow crab, and fried lobster—as well as popular fried accompaniments like hushpuppies and fries. Of particular note are the wings, presented in lemon pepper and BBQ varieties, which have garnered positive remarks for their seasoning and texture. The wings provide a crunch that complements moist meat, though some customers have noted variability in wing size and occasional presence of gristle.

Washington Seafood Market’s Po-Boy plates, including shrimp and whiting options, stand as accessible lunch staples, showcasing the brand’s focus on hearty, fried seafood sandwiches. Side orders such as onion rings and classic French fries further anchor the menu in approachable comfort food.

The atmosphere and physical space reflect a no-frills, utilitarian design—described by some as “off-kilter”—but this does not detract from the customer service, which many reviews praise for consistency and friendliness. Long-standing employees contribute to a feeling of familiarity and trust. While not a tourist destination, the market serves a dedicated local audience that values freshness, reasonable pricing, and uncomplicated flavors.

Feedback from patrons points to a range of experiences. Many appreciate the freshness and seasoning, especially in items like the steamed shrimp and fried oysters, which are executed well and seasoned appropriately. However, some reviews mention mild seasoning in seafood boils and occasional inconsistencies in portion size. The nostalgic appeal is strong, with some long-time customers recalling higher quality and homemade touches that they hope to see return. Despite mixed notes, the market sustains its role as a reliable spot for fried fish, shrimp, and wings—comfort food that resonates with those craving simple, flavorful seafood in East Point.

Overall, Washington Seafood Market embodies the spirit of a local seafood haunt. It thrives on delivering down-to-earth seafood dishes with warmth and consistency, even if it occasionally falls short of culinary refinement. For those seeking generous portions of fried favorites and a taste of neighborhood charm, it remains an inviting, value-driven option.

Not much to this place. They sell fresh seafood and also cooked seafood. The fish I ordered was cooked fresh and straight out the grease. This is a neighborhood hidden gem for some comfort food if you just want fried fish or shrimp and fries. Prices are very reasonable. Service was good, same employee been there for years ready to take your order And cook.

I have been to this place twice now. The first time was an order for a BBQ wings and fries combo. The location presents an off kilter aesthetic, however the food and customer service is well above average. The second time ordering, I placed for a 10 piece lemon pepper and fries combo. The fries have yet to disappoint and that means a lot to me. They are a thicker cut shoe string fry that have the right amount of salty flavor yet don't hold the oil from the fry basket. The wings, lemon pepper included, have an amazing texture, that is not mostly fat and skin which is quite common for fast food wings. The crispness of the skin, that is there, is just enough to satisfy a crunch as you bite into the meat of it. The texture of the meat is firm and cooked semi hard to perfection. The lemon pepper seasoning is quite rich in an above average way. The lemon clearly shines through and the butter makes a guest appearance letting you know its there all while the salt and pepper neither venture to over indulge the palate. There is a lingering amount of butter/oil left over from this chicken though. The main gripe about the chicken is the size of what is considered to count as one of the chickens in the order. During both visits with separate order flavors i received a nugget of a chicken wing. The first time was more of the gristle connected to the marrow and the last time, with the lemon pepper, was like the chicken itself was cut from the bone.

Food was mid. Okay to scratch a seafood boil itch but nothing special. I ordered a B1 and the crab cluster was tiny. Shrimp were good and they charged me for boiled eggs even though I took off sausage and potatoes. They’re the same price on the menu so I was annoyed. Flavor is mild

I read alot of the reviews good & bad. But I would like to say that 15yrs and before then Washington Seafood Market was really on another level. The food was really good and fresh! The shrimp use to taste so good! They use to have a homemade tatar sauce that was blended with vegetables... I'm not sure what happen but please bring this quality of food and service back!

I ordered the shrimp boil. I was hoping to have something like Juicy Crab. For what I paid I should have gone to Juicy Crab, I definitely did not get the Juicy Crab taste. The shrimp taste as if it was boiled in just water and seasoning sprinkled on top after being prepared. The wasted of $25+.
